Practice in sustainability, creativity and collaboration with Upper Campus Students. During Land Lab students spend their days in rotations linked to their school curriculum based on Montessori Lessons, studying the natural worlds, collecting data for a local river conservancy, re-creating experiences based in all subjects and engaging in team problem-solving activities. The students do everything from building shelters for animals on our campus, creating class gardens, learning how to take care of the land, learn to use power tools to create outdoor study areas and learn to care and respect for school grounds and animals.
All aspects of the program, including the structures on the land are designed to be “temporary” with particular attention to sustainability, healthy eating and behavior, and volunteer participation of parents and adults in the school. The ABC Land Lab is one of the few Upper Campus outdoor experiential programs in the Southeast and is an integral part of the Upper Campus curriculum.
